The Swedish Forest Agency – overview and control in a countrywide WAN

“Qondoc gives me an overview of the whole system. If we were to close down server 12 at nine o’clock next Monday, for example, I would then see which system owners were affected and could contact them. If I want to know how many servers are running Windows 2000, I get the answer in 20 seconds. Before, I had to call all system owners and ask them personally.” Interview with Roland Lindblad, who is the manager of the operations and technology group and is responsible for 120 servers and 1 400 personal computers at 160 offices.

Qondoc gives an overview of the whole system

With 1 400 computers at 160 offices, it is possible to understand why Roland Lindblad values Qondoc’s ability to provide information automatically. “Qondoc gives me an overview of the whole system,” he explains. “I see how the individual computers are configured as regards hardware and software, but I also see the flow in the system. If we were to close down server 12 at nine o’clock next Monday, for example, I would then see which system owners were affected and could contact them. If I want to know how many servers are running Windows 2000, I get the answer in 20 seconds. Before, I had to call all system owners and ask them personally.”

From folders to automatic information

Swedish Forest Agency has produced risk documents for each server with instructions in the event of a fire or crash, for example. “When something happens, we won’t need to think,” explains Roland. “Before, the information was collated in folders at different offices. We now have all information collated in one place, in Qondoc.”

Call Qondoc instead of Bill Gates

Roland maintains that Qondoc has a great development potential that is fortified by the fact that the customers have to a great extent been allowed to be part of its development. “You can’t exactly call Bill Gates and ask him to make a change in Word, but you can call Tobias at Qondoc,” he concludes.

Swedish Forest Agency is an authority with the task of “advising on forestry matters, supervising the Silvicultural Act, services within forestry operations and providing support within the nature conservation field”.

Emil Lundgren AB – from gut instinct to full control with Qondoc
