Qondoc -
The newly appointed IT manager of the municipality, Roger Juhlin, found that the documentation of the IT infrastructure in Lerum had fallen between two stools. What makes it all the more fun is that he chose our flagship Qondoc Infrastructure to straighten it out.
Familiar with Qondoc
Roger Juhlin is quite familiar with the functionality of our products from his days as IT manager of Mölndals Energi. Our CEO Sven Askengren remembers well when, years ago, he tried to persuade Juhlin to use our documentation tool. No cooperation was initiated then, but when Roger Juhlin was appointed IT manager at the municipality of Lerum which has a significant network to document, the choice was in favour of Qondoc Infrastructure.
In need of an effort
Soon, Roger Juhlin realised that the documentation was not what it should be. “It is probably because Lerum very soon outsourced the network operation. It was believed that the documentation would be handled by the outsourcing supplier, but that was not the fact. We realised that quite an effort was required”, admits the IT manager.
First training
Just these days, we have had our first training in Qondoc Infrastructure with the IT employees of the municipality of Lerum and we look forward to a close cooperation. Roger Juhlin is already anticipating the next step of the registration work, “We are starting by documenting what is stacked on our tables. In future negotiations with external operation suppliers we will make sure to include that they shall also manage Qondoc for us, keep documentation updated and work actively on this.”
Depending on individual persons
How would you describe your present situation? “I am very dependant on specific persons right now. That the outsourcing supplier stays in business and that the employees in the central IT department do not leave. It would be a disaster if they left, as almost all information is stored in their heads. We have a guy who has developed the network and worked with it for almost 15 years who will be retiring in about two years. It is my job to get as much information from him as possible about the network and store this information in Qondoc.”
IT security revision
According to Roger Juhlin the community has invited the accountants Ernest & Young to make an IT security audit. “I know they will state that there is no satisfactory documentation today. But as from this autumn things will improve essentially. We have a large network to document”, Roger Juhlin adds optimistically. We are pleased that he chose Qondoc Infrastructure for that job.
