New installation of Qondoc SAM within the VLT group

2007-04-02

Product development and testing come together. Recently we installed Qondoc SAM with specially adjusted functions with VLT for an optimum handling of licenses. “Now we can control how and where we use our licenses”, says IT manager of the VLT group Marika Eriksson Norgren.

The cooperation continues

The cooperation with VLT in Västerås continues. The media company which at the turn of the year bought Qondoc SAM for license documentation has contributed to improve the production further, and further adjusting it to VLT’s specific organisational needs.

Links agreements and program

With Qondoc SAM you know which programs are installed in the computer stock but the product also links together the number of programs with license verification and license agreements. “We were satisfied with Qondoc as our supplier and with their systems as our operation tool already the first time. Now we want to collect information in a way which suits our present organisational structure. One demand was that we must be able to group our clients and measure licenses and users at department and company level, depending on our company structure. Qondoc mets that demand”, says Marika Eriksson Norgren.

Registers VLT’s agreement

Our CEO Sven Askengren further noted that no company wants to be neither overlicensed nor underlicensed and wanted to develop a function which in a simple way would register VLT’s agreements and compare it to the utilisation degree. “We wanted to test the ideas we had developed and used VLT as Betatester”, Sven explains.

Moves licenses

As other media companies, VLT makes use of a number of different programs for photo handling, editing etc and all programs are not used to the same extent and maybe some should not be part of the license agreement. “With Qondoc we can see the use of licenses in the entire group, so that we use them at the right place. It is also about financing upgrades. We assume that we have licenses which are never used and if so, we should not buy upgrades for these” , says Marika Eriksson Norgren.

All customers benefit

What other functions are important to VLT? “In Qondoc Infrastructure you could see the location of the unit and we want this function again. I would also say that Qondoc is very responsive to our wishes and makes sure that alle customers benefit from the development proces. That is very positive”, says Marika Eriksson Norgren.

Provides a good budget basis

VLT has approx. 800 computers, both Mac and PC in the organisation and the organisation will soon be able to collect and view license data in quite another way than before. “We will have a very good basis next time we have to make budgets. That is our goal”, says Marika Eriksson Norgren.
