Qondoc -

“It’s a great Google Earth experience when one turns on Qondoc. I start with an atlas of the world and select Europe or the USA and then descend on a city, building, room and rack and with the aid of helpful graphics locate the sought unit. It’s both neat and effective.” Interview with Claes Svennberg, IT Manager at Saab Aerotech Aircraft Services, and responsible for 70 servers and 600 client computers in Sweden and USA.
“It’s a great Google Earth experience when one turns on Qondoc,” says Claes Svennberg. “I start with an atlas of the world and select Europe or the USA and then descend on a city, building, room and rack and with the aid of helpful graphics locate the sought unit. It’s both neat and effective.
“Before Qondoc, we used an in-house developed system which operated for some years until we realized it would be cheaper and simpler to work with them. Prior to Qondoc, we would, for instance, enter information manually. We don’t need to any longer. Qondoc gathers and saves all the information automatically.
“Qondoc has meant a great deal for IT administration. We can find the right information quickly and with ease. This enables us to assist the end-user in a more effective way. It also enables us to be more pro-active and foresee preventable problems.
“Qondoc logs all the activities in our IT environment embracing some 600 employees. We can see where all our equipment is located right down to periphery such as monitors, handheld computers and employee’s security tags. I can identify the employee’s rights and ensure no licenses are infringed.
“We maintain a close co-operation with Qondoc’s development team. They are very responsive to our needs, constantly developing new, smart solutions that make our IT administration easier to work with. Sometimes I suggest an improvement and jokingly enquire, ‘when will the update be ready?’ The answer is immediate: ‘tomorrow!’. But they aren’t joking, the update promptly arrives the next day.”
Responding to some short statements about Qondoc, Claes Svennberg awarded the following points on a scale of minus 10 to plus 10;
